Article summary

This article explains how to delete iNodes in the Secure Edge Portal. Review the considerations in the next section before you continue to delete an iNode.

Considerations when Deleting iNodes

Deleting an iNode removes the following configuration:

Warning
Once deleted, this configuration cannot be recovered.
  • Networks and their configuration, including remote network assignments, security policies, and static routes.
  • Any services running on the iNode. (Image files will remain.)

The following configuration items are not removed:

  • WAN Configuration
  • SSH Key Assignment

The WAN and SSH Key assignment cannot be removed due to the non-deterministic nature of making this change. When you delete an iNode from the Secure Edge portal, the iNode will immediately go offline and there is no way to determine if the configuration was updated successfully.

This normally has minimal implications, but in cases where WAN configuration has been applied, it is important to note that you will need to update the WAN configuration if you plan to return the iNode to service on another network. To check whether an unassigned iNode has this configuration remaining, go to the iNode Serial Numbers page. Click on the unassigned Serial Number of interest to view the details modal. This modal notes if a WAN configuration has been applied and the SSH Key that would be required to access this iNode’s CLI interface.

Delete an iNode

Use the following steps to delete an iNode.

  1. From iNodes > All iNodes, select the iNode you want to delete to open the iNode details page.
  2. From the top-right Manage iNode menu, select Delete.
  3. A confirmation dialog will appear. This dialog confirms the name and Serial Number of the iNode that is being deleted. Review these details, and then type the Serial Number of the iNode in the text field to confirm.
  4. After entering the Serial Number, the Delete button will be available. Select Delete to delete the iNode.
